Nutrient Density.
Understanding
the Science…
From Field to Plate.
The Bionutrient Institute is the home for the science to build a nutrient dense food supply.
We recognize that soil health is intimately connected to plant, animal, environmental and human health. Our vision is to deepen our understanding of those connections and thereby support the potential of Life. Our intention is to collaborate with allies who also see the opportunities to make the focus of agriculture be quality and nutrition in order to support the systems that provide sustenance, sustainability and human evolution.
“We can profoundly shift millions and millions of acres of farmland to much healthier ecosystem function, as well as have positive effects on human health. This isn’t about organic or conventional or regenerative…this is about Life, Nutrition and Health. ”
— Dan Kittredge
The Bionutrient Institute Labs
The Bionutrient Institute labs were established to bring empirical definition to the term Nutrient Density. It’s there that we assess crops for a suite of elements and compounds to identify the variation that exists in the food supply. With that information we are able to determine the relative nutrient density of one crop to another.
We also have the capacity to assess the soil that crops grew in to determine what environmental conditions and management practices correlate with better and worse nutrient density effects in order to support growers in doing a better job.
As always, all of our data is open source and in the commons to support an empowered transformation of food production.
Want to know where your crop, soil or food ingredients stand?
“I think it’s the greatest untold story in the healthy food business.”
